After much anticipation, Dodge has released the official horsepower figures for its most highly anticipated Challenger, the SRT Hellcat. Exceeding almost every reasonable expectation, the Hellcat will be released with 707 horsepower produced from a 6.2L supercharge V8 Hemi. This makes the Challenger the most powerful production muscle car ever built.
The All-new 6.2L V8 is equipped with a strengthened block to handle the added pressure the twin-screw supercharger will place on the challenger under heavy acceleration. Unique aluminum heads have been engineered to flow the maximum amount of air to support the efficient supercharger. The engine internals were in turn beefed up with a forged rotating assembly consisting of forged crankshaft, connecting rods and low compression pistons to handle the boost.
The All-New SRT Challenger Hellcat should start showing up in dealership showrooms by the end of the year.
